alt.SPACE presents…

New Beginings was invited by C.cred to participate in alt.SPACE presents…, a series of informal talks taking place across the virtual space that is the Internet using Skype video-conferencing technologies to link spaces in Malmö, Sweden with a Red76 exhibition in Columbus, Ohio (USA).

We presented our latest work with the Surtsey movie and talked about our thoughts behind it. We also demonstrated the breathtaking models including a lava pool and a smoking exploding volcano.

Research trip and movie project

We recently went to Iceland for some research. We experienced some hot and cosy volcanoes, dramatic weather and the beautiful island Surtsey. We are currently working with a experimental 16mm movie that will be premiered in spring 2008.

A prototype shelter/poncho is on display at Kunsthallen Nikolaj, as a part of The Tent Show. Our good friends parfume says: "The tent is central to this exhibition. As a symbol, a concept, a protector, and for its function, colour, material and the society and story it represents."

070913 IDEL ÖRA

As a part of Full Pull 2007 we are hosting yet another IDEL ÖRA event at our workspace Ystadvägen 13. Jon Eriksen will give us a guided mini tour into noise music, from the fjords of Norway to anywhere your ears dare to go.

IDEL ÖRA is meant to function as a meeting place on a regular basis for sound art, music and audio experiments. In a relaxed atmosphere we meet and listen to sound in all forms and share thoughts, ideas and knowledge about it. IDEL ÖRA is initiated by Mathias Kristersson and Carl Lindh, and is a part of alt.SPACE

At the opening of the new New Beginings HQ we held an improvised concert together with the turntable wizard Carl Lindh. We used two FM3 Buddha Machines and one real Buddha Machine. Read more about the FM3 Buddha Machine here.

We are very proud to present our brand new OpenType font New Handwriting. The font is based on a unsuccessful handwriting reform that the Swedish head council of education attempted to implement during the mid 70s. The computer font is distributed freely under creative commons licence and is free to use for everyone.
